Meet WSP Gardener Tyson
I have been a gardener at Washington Square Park for 7 years. I stayed here because I have never been bored at work – there is always something to see and do, it’s a really good place to be.
I am currently the only gardener for all 9.75 acres of Washington Square Park. I spend my time planning all the plants for our garden beds, caring for all the trees, bushes, flowers, and lawns, and experimenting with new gardening projects to learn more about what plants work (or don’t) in our park. I love this work.
One of the best parts of my job is helping the park continue to improve. We’re constantly problem-solving walking paths and putting in more resilient plants to ensure we have beautiful flowers, bushes, and trees for parkgoers to enjoy year-round.
If you want to learn more about what it takes to be a Washington Square Park gardener and why your support is more important now than ever, you can watch my full interview below.
