Can You Feel The Energy

September 11 2024

There’s something magical about starting your day in Washington Square Park. Maybe it’s the energy in the air or the way the sunlight filters through the trees. Whatever it is, it’s the perfect setting to get moving, and we have a wide range of weekly fitness classes in Garibaldi Plaza to help you do just that.

Start off your week right with Adult & Senior Movement classes every Tuesday morning from 9:30-10:30am. These sessions, led by the experts from Dances for a Variable Population, offer low-impact exercises that help keep the body strong and flexible, and get you moving without any stress.

Prefer something a little more zen? On Wednesdays from 8:30-9:30am, Yoga classes bring the calming influence of the park together with the perfect stretch for your body. Breathe deep and find your flow to the music of rustling leaves and the occasional bird call. It’s hard to imagine a better way to center yourself and connect with nature.

Looking to build up your strength and flexibility while focusing on mindfulness? Give BodyArt a try on Thursdays from 8:30-9:30am. This class combines elements of yoga, pilates and dance, offering a holistic workout that leaves you feeling both invigorated and refreshed. It’s dynamic, it’s creative, and it’s the perfect challenge for your mind and body.

Looking to get active in the evening? Swing by the park on a Thursday night and you’ll hear the rhythmic sound of the Double Dutch Aunties. Jumping in is as easy as taking that first leap–whether you’re a pro or new to the ropes, the Aunties welcome everyone on Thursday evenings from 6-7pm.

Each class offers something unique, but they all have one thing in common: the opportunity to feel good while being surrounded by the vibrant energy of Washington Square Park. So, grab a friend, bring a mat, or just show up ready to move—because staying fit has never been this fun.

See you in the park!
