Washington Square Park: more than a shortcut

September 25 2024

You might have noticed the neighborhood is a bit busier lately…that’s because the students are back! 🥳 Welcome NYU-ers old and new. While we know you’ll be spending a lot of time in lecture halls and study rooms, don’t miss out on the real heartbeat of the Village: Washington Square Park. We sat down with NYU Community Engagement to get their advice on how to make this iconic space an integral part of your NYU experience. Even if you’re not a student, these insider tips can help you enjoy the park to its fullest.

Picnic Like a Pro 🧺

Whether you’re meeting up with friends or just need a break from the classroom, grab a blanket and some snacks, and head to one of the park’s chill spots. The lawn near the Garibaldi statue is perfect for catching some sun, while the southwest corner offers more shade for those laid-back summer vibes. Bonus points if you bring some of New York’s finest bagels! Wherever you set up, always be respectful of fencing and dispose of any trash you create.
