A Season of Gratitude: Our Team’s Reflections

November 20 2025

In honor of this special time of year, we asked our team members what they’re thankful for. From delectable dosas to dedicated volunteers and colleagues, caring for an iconic place like Washington Square Park means there’s a lot to celebrate.

What are you grateful for in Washington Square Park? Email us at hello@washingtonsqpark.org and let us know!

I’m grateful for…

“…the amazing array of public programs we hosted at the park this season. Thanks to the partnership of local community organizations, we welcomed over 10,000 attendees to the park to our free and dynamic programs. Whether it was a walking history tour with Bowery Boys Walks, sculpture in Scrabble Plaza led by a local artist, or Storytime with New York Public Library, Washington Square Park was all the more vibrant. After a wonderful season, I look forward to planning next year’s great suite of free recreational programs at such a storied NYC landmark!”
-Kaitlyn Yates, Programs Director

“…early morning strolls in the park with a warm cup of coffee in hand. It’s the best time to people watch, and pigeon watch!”
Ashley Eyen, Deputy Director

“…the beautiful fall leaves in the park and all the workers and volunteers who help us rake them up!”
-Jack O’Brien, Volunteer Coordinator

“…the teams on all sides of my role that help keep Washington Square Park the wonderful place that it is. It takes a village as they say!”
-Will Morrison, Executive Director

“…the entire Washington Square Park community; I love the people! From the staff and volunteers, to the folks who partner with us on a myriad of programmatic offerings, as well as the immense kaleidoscope of people who enjoy the park each day. That’s what makes Washington Square Park so brilliant; it’s an iconic gathering space that celebrates being in community together. Also, shoutout to NY Dosas.”
Kaitlyn Crockett, Development Coordinator

“…how the park is a constant source of joy and inspiration for New Yorkers and folks from all around the world. I am always amazed at how 9.75 acres of parkland can bring people from all different walks of life together!”
