Meet the Clean Team - Washington Square Park

Looking for a New Year’s Resolution with an amazing backdrop? Apply for WSPC’s Clean Team and start 2025 off right!

The Clean Team is a group of dedicated volunteers who help keep Washington Square Park clean and beautiful by assisting with litter removal. You’ll make your own schedule, so this is the perfect opportunity for a New Yorker to pitch in when it works for you.

Meet Some Clean Teamers:

Clean Team member Janice tackles trash on the North side of WSP — “The cultural and architectural history of the Village is fascinating, Washington Square Park has always played a very important role in the Village. Being a part of it and helping to keep it clean is a great thing!” – Janice

“I choose to volunteer on the clean team because Washington Square Park is the best park in the city.” – Gerald (and being able to take his sidekick, Lucy, along with him as he volunteers is a bonus!!)

What the work is:

You’ll be assisting NYC Parks staff with litter removal. After a virtual orientation, you’ll be equipped with the necessary tools and knowledge to work independently in the park during the hours when Parks staff are present: 7am-6pm, 7 days a week. You can volunteer anytime within this time frame, but we recommend a shift of 45 minutes once a week. All volunteers are required to log their own hours through our Volunteer Management System.
