Park Open Studio: Collective Collage with Eirini Linardaki
Led by a local teaching artist, this drop-in class invites participants to explore creativity through hands-on artmaking under the shade of Scrabble Plaza’s trees. Past mediums have included plein-air drawing, printmaking, cyanotypes, and more. All materials are provided by WSPC.

About the Workshop
Washington Square Park becomes both studio and inspiration. Participants will observe the park's natural world—its trees, leaves, flowers, changing light, and shifting shadows—and transform these impressions into original patterns using fabric, paint, and collage. Throughout the season, participants will contribute to a collective collage led by artist Eirini Linardaki, inspired by the park's textures, colors, wildlife, and the stories and myths that emerge between day and night.
Open to all ages and experience levels, the workshops invite participants to experiment, collaborate, and discover how nature can become the starting point for pattern, storytelling, and public art.
About the Artist
Eirini Linardaki is a visual artist based in New York City and Newark whose public artworks transform parks, streets, transit hubs, and community spaces into places for gathering and storytelling. Her work combines drawing, textiles, collage, animation, and public participation, and has been commissioned by organizations including NYC Parks, the New York City Department of Transportation, Audible, Amtrak, NJ TRANSIT, MTA Arts & Design, and the City of Newark.
Eirini believes that public art begins with people. Centering human stories, cultural exchange, and community participation, her practice transforms shared spaces into places of connection and belonging. In addition to her work across the US and Europe, she is the director of NOUS – le labo d'art public at the Institut Français du Cameroun, where she develops public art projects, exhibitions, and educational programs in collaboration with local communities.
