Walking Tour with Bowery Boys Walks: Little Italy in the South Village & Washington Square Park

November 7 2025

When people think of Little Italy in Manhattan today, their mind likely goes to Mulberry Street just north of Canal Street, a few blocks lined with Italian restaurants and thronged with tourists. But in the late 1800s and early 1900s, Italians also populated the blocks below Washington Square Park, known as the South Village. Join us on a walking tour in partnership with Bowery Boy Walks that will discuss this neighborhood and the lives of the people who lived here, visit some of the structures still around from that era, talk about how it differed from the area north of the park, and see how the Italians influenced Washington Square Park itself.

This walk is led by Bowery Boy Walks Tour Guide Krikor Daglian.
