Art Meets Books

Large Playground
Art and books collide with enriching activities for children ages 12 and under. Our friends from the Portable Museum Project are bringing fun projects inspired by some of your favorite books, read by Hudson Park Library. Children will also be invited to write down their own story with a librarian Activities change week to week, see below for details.
May: Printmaking and Community Art
Children will learn the art of printmaking and work on a collaborative watercolor mural that will be displayed at New York Public Library’s Hudson Park Branch!
June: Urban Gardening
We will learn about urban gardening and the important work of our pollinator friends. Children will create their own miniature garden to care for at home!
July: Culture
July will be all about learning about traditions and different ways of honoring and preserving culture. Together we will make masks and dreamcatchers.
August: Summer
August is one hot summer month. We will talk all about summer, weather, the beach and more! We will be making sun catchers and our own Rainbow Fish.
September: Back to School
September means back to school! We’ll all talk about what we’re looking forward to this year and make our own backpack key chains and bookmarks.
